Oscar Rodriguez's Thoughts

In the last few days my English class we been presenting something that we are passionate about. I haven't been posting it because I have been running into tech problems. But I fixed it and I'm gonna share with you who the presenters were and what they presented. So enjoy.

In the past couple of days I have been contemplating on what to do in my senior year in high school. I have played football in Santa Maria High for all my three years so far. I want to finish it out in my final year but I also want to work so I can earn money for myself. In my junior year we went undefeated in our league to win the league championship. Then we continued our win streak all the way to the CIF championship game. Our win streak ended that day because we lost to our opponents that only lost one game in their whole season. Now I want to earn money to buy my own clothes, shoes, etc. I want to start working but that feeling of me missing out in my senior year really has me thinking on what path to take. I've asked people what I should do but it is split down the middle with people telling me to continue football, and people that are telling me to work. In the past couple of weeks I have been reading a book called Fahrenheit 451. Some of you well recognize that the temperature is the temperature that paper burns. As I read the book I made some connections to it. Ray Bradbury wrote the book in the 1950s. But he predicted some of the things we use now.  The book's main character or protagonist is called Montag. Montag is a fireman in the book. But, the firemen are not the same as we have in our world. These firemen set fires instead of putting them out. In Montag's world books are prohibited. When someone is in possession or suspected of having a book their home is sent on fire. Montag just does what he is told and burns down houses when told to. He then gets his mind thinking when a little girl questions everything he does. This girl always talked to him at the same place at the same time. Then one day she no longer went there. After that event occurred Montag started to question things in his life. He then did one thing that

For me I just want people to know that they don't need to learn in an environment where you are constantly told what to do and where your suppose to go.  I want people to open their eyes and to acknowledge that they can improve their learning environment and their learning .

My next steps is to research the topic and write down any details that will support my idea.  I can also watch YouTube videos about this subject and see what other people think on the subject. I also might do a survey on other people's thoughts about school.

The benefit of my Big Question will show people that the life in school is not as it seems.  My hope is that school officials will take notice of the issue and together we can make school a better place to learn.
