Richard Cory Theme and Tone

As I read Richard Cory I was trying to figure out the tone and mood of it.  Then I realized that the theme of the story is someone can be the most perfect person on the outside, but inside they are the exact opposite.  In other words it's that you don't judge a book by it's cover.
